Abigail Jones
Abigail teaches Ballet, Tap, Junior Jazz and Acro at DHD and is the lead teacher for all our youngest dancers from pre-school to primary. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge (and happiness) to DHD.
Abigail began ballet classes at the age of 2 and as a child, took her classical ballet examinations with the Royal Academy of Dance and performed at major theatres in York. Abigail moved to London to attend Roehampton University, where she trained in classical ballet along-side contemporary techniques, graduating with a BA Hons degree in Dance Studies. During this time, Abigail performed at national dance competitions.
Whilst training, Abigail found a passion for teaching and began working for a number of ballet schools in South West London. After graduating, Abigail accepted a place at the Royal Academy of Dance on the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies course, and continued to work as a freelance ballet teacher in and around London in ballet schools and at a private prep school in south west London. Abigail moved back to her home town of York in 2018 and continues to teach in both York and Leeds. Abigail is principal of her own school in North Leeds, and works alongside Deborah for the Royal Ballet & Opera on their Chance to Dance Programme.
